Admiral Bill McRaven wisely stated, ‘If you can’t do the little things right, it won’t scale. You won’t be able to do the big things well.’
I often witness the quest for that grand gesture, that one silver bullet that will make everything else a walk in the park or at least ‘easier.’
Let me tell you, it’s not out there. In my quest for wisdom on this matter, I stumbled upon the quote above. I was hoping to find some clarity, a neat phrase to express this idea, but I came up empty. So, here it is.
Success thrives on the exceptional execution of the little things that matter, and the conscious omission of the ones that don’t.
If there was such a thing as an ‘easy’ button, it would be the ability to clearly distinguish the important little things from the trivial ones.
If you’ve set goals, you’ve already got the simplest filter to guide your decision-making.
Simply ask yourself: Does this action take me closer to my goal? If yes, proceed; if no, think twice.
Your culture will steer you toward your goal, and a well-managed team is the vehicle to get there. Effective sales, under proper management, will inch you closer to your goals.
Creating scalable systems involves starting with a small, manageable step, proving its worth, and only then expanding it. Never skip the ‘prove it’ phase, or you risk amplifying a failure.
P.S. A friendly piece of advice: Don’t attempt to scale a sales process that only exists in your mind. Write it down, test it rigorously, make necessary adjustments, and only then consider scaling it. Rushing this process will cost you dearly throughout your business journey.
