During a recent road trip with my wife, we found ourselves pondering a question: “When will we be done?”
At first, I thought, “Never.” But as we delved deeper into the conversation, I realized that’s not entirely accurate. A more precise query would be, “When will we be done with this particular season of our business and our life?” The answer to that question is objective: August 31st, 2024.
Here’s where perseverance comes into play. It’s about the determination to learn what needs learning, adapt as required, allow necessary changes, and provide the encouragement needed to make that date a reality.
The story doesn’t end there. Perseverance then prompts us to ask, “What will we learn and grow into next?”
The principle of “grow or die” doesn’t have an age limit. It can cease, but when growth halts, the slow march towards mediocrity begins, leading eventually to surrender. Sometimes it’s a gradual decline; other times, it’s a sudden implosion. Nature’s laws remind us that the moment we decide to stop growing, we initiate our own decline. It’s a humbling thought, isn’t it?
So, the question remains: Will you foster, nurture, and refine your perseverance? It’s the capacity to move on to the next challenge and the readiness to acquire the knowledge needed to avoid triggering your own decline.
The choice is yours, my friends. Choose wisely.
