Leverage

One of Brad Sugars’ favorite sayings is “Do the work once, get paid forever.” It’s the ActionCOACH definition of leverage.

Let me break it down for you. When you hire a salesperson to sell, the work done one time is the act of hiring. But the beauty lies in the fact that the salesperson continues to sell forever, bringing in revenue that keeps coming.

Now, here’s another example. Create a system for onboarding new employees. The work done once is establishing the system itself. But from that point on, the system takes care of onboarding all your employees, ensuring a smooth process that doesn’t require constant reinvention.

You see, the opposite of leverage is when you do the work once and get paid once. Like selling a house—you get paid one time. But imagine starting a brokerage, where you get paid for every house it sells. That’s leverage in action, my friends.

It’s time to wrap your head around this concept. Remember, it’s the job of the business to do the work. Using leverage allows you to hand over the work to the business for the long haul, freeing up your time and energy.

Leverage. It’s the very essence of “Make More, Work Less.” Embrace it, my friends, and unlock the true potential of your business.
