As Christopher Hitchens once said, “We must all choose our future regrets.”
In business, it’s easy to fall into the trap of choosing regrets through inattention. To be exceptional at something, it requires focus and work – learning, practicing, and repeating. However, when faced with the choice of perfecting something you already know or pursuing something new and interesting, many people will choose the latter and unknowingly choose the regret of the former failing.
Common business regrets include not staying with something until it worked, spending too much time spinning wheels, and not asking for help.
To avoid these regrets, focus on the results you want and commit to focused work, rather than chasing distractions. Remember, you can’t have both.
